About Morse Moving & Storage

Morse Moving & Storage was started by Herb and Vi Morse in 1954 with the goal of providing dependable, straightforward, and affordable moving services to their customers throughout Michigan. With 8 brothers and 3 sisters between them who began working in the business very young, what started as a small business has become a regional go-to for moving services across Michigan and Ohio.
Over 70 years later, Herb and Vi’s 11 children and 42 grandchildren have continued to build the Morse legacy for moving excellence. 26 family members still work and run the business today, working to provide our customers with the same attention to detail and personalized customer service that Morse has become known for over the past several decades.
Where It Started: Herb and Vi Morse
When Herb and Vi Morse established their moving company, they had no way of knowing it would become a regional staple still running seven decades later. Today, Morse is still the same family business they started, just on a broader scale.
- Family-owned and operated since 1954
- Award-winning Allied Van Lines agent since 1989
- AMSA Certified ProMover and ISO certified since 2000
- Elite Fleet drivers recognized within the Allied network
- Women’s Choice Award Winners 2015-2026
- Newsweek Best Customer Service Companies 2025-2026
- Trippel Survey #1 in Customer Satisfaction 2025-2026
- Official mover of the Detroit Pistons
- Serving Detroit, Lansing, Traverse City, Grand Rapids, and Cleveland
Between their kids and grandkids, moving has truly become a family affair. On top of the 26 family members still working at Morse today, 3 of those are van operators and members of Allied’s top Elite-Fleet, meaning the Morse family is not only involved in our client’s moving processes, but also in training our drivers to provide top-level service to our customers while ensuring their items remain safe and secure during transport.
Reliable Drivers With Experience
A moving company is only as good as the people carrying the boxes and driving the truck, and Morse has built a strong team of experienced drivers. Three Morse family members currently work as van operators, and two of them have been named to Allied Van Lines’ Elite Fleet, a designation reserved for the top-performing drivers across the entire Allied network. This distinction is earned through consistent safety records, customer feedback, and professionalism that Allied expects from the agents it puts its name behind. As we mentioned, these Morse family members are also directly involved with the training of our drivers, ensuring your items are treated with the care and attention to detail we’d pay to our own family members’ things.
Across the full driving team, Morse averages 14 years of experience per driver. With our high training standard and driver tenure, you can trust that your Morse drivers know how to reliably move your items with care.

Certifications & Accreditations
Morse Moving & Storage holds several credentials that distinguish us from your average movers.
AMSA Certified ProMovers & ISO Certified
We’re AMSA Certified ProMovers, a distinction from the American Moving and Storage Association that requires meeting strict standards around business practices, licensing, and customer treatment. We’ve also held ISO certification since 2000, which reflects an ongoing commitment to quality management and consistency across every branch and every move.
Certified Moving Consultants
Our team also includes Certified Moving Consultants and Certified Relocation Professionals, both credentials that require ongoing training and demonstrated expertise in the logistics of relocation, whether that’s a two-bedroom apartment across town or a corporate relocation spanning multiple states.
Awards
Morse has also been named an Allied Quality Award winner multiple times and took home the Allied 2016 Quality Hauling Agent Award, an honor that goes to a select group of agents within the entire Allied Van Lines network. Additionally, we’ve earned the Women’s Choice Award for multiple years in a row, from 2015-2026. On top of these recognitions, we’re also honored to have been named one of Newsweek’s Best Customer Service Companies in 2025, as well as #1 in Net Customer Satisfaction by the Trippel Survey in both 2025 and 2026.
Corporate clients relocating employees have their own reason to trust us: Morse holds Cartus Gold status, a distinction awarded to relocation providers who consistently meet the rigorous service standards Cartus sets for its network of corporate relocation partners.

An Allied Van Lines Agent Since 1989
Since 1989, Morse has operated as an agent for Allied Van Lines, one of the most established names in the moving industry. That partnership gives Morse customers access to a nationwide network of resources, equipment, and logistics support for long-distance and international moves, without losing the personal attention that comes from working with a locally owned team.
Allied expects its agents to maintain performance standards year over year, and Morse has consistently been recognized as an award-winning agent within that network. When you book with Morse, you’re getting a team that answers to both its own reputation and the standards of one of the largest van lines in the country.
Where We Operate
Morse Moving & Storage runs branch locations across Michigan and into Northeast Ohio, giving the company deep local knowledge in every market it serves rather than a thin layer of coverage spread too wide.
- Detroit and Romulus, Michigan: Home base for the company and the hub for moves throughout Southeast Michigan, from downtown high-rises to the suburbs stretching into Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties.
- Lansing, Michigan: Serving the state capital and the surrounding mid-Michigan region, including East Lansing and Okemos, with crews familiar with everything from campus-area apartments to established residential neighborhoods.
- Traverse City, Michigan: Covering Northern Michigan’s seasonal roads, lakeside properties, and rural routes, where moving logistics look nothing like they do in a dense metro area.
- Grand Rapids, Michigan: Serving West Michigan’s largest city and the fast-growing communities around it, including Kentwood, Wyoming, and Cascade.
- Cleveland, Ohio: Extending Morse’s reach across the state line into Northeast Ohio, bringing the same standards the company built in Michigan to Cleveland’s neighborhoods and suburbs.
No matter which branch handles your move, you’re working with a team trained under the same family standards and backed by the same certifications and Allied Van Lines resources.

Proud Official Mover of the Detroit Pistons
Morse Moving & Storage holds the distinction of being the official mover of the Detroit Pistons since 2018. This partnership reflects the kind of trust major organizations place in our services, and our ability to handle moves for organizations both large and small. Handling the logistics for a professional sports franchise requires precision, discretion, and the ability to execute complex moves without disruption, the same qualities of which Morse brings to every residential and commercial customer.
